Happy Easter, my friends! As I have mentioned before, Easter is one of my favorite holidays to decorate for. I love the pastel colors, the flowers and the eggs, the sweet bunnies and fuzzy chicks and of course, the candy! I have really enjoyed adding the rustic look of burlap to some of my Easter decorations this year. From a simple piece of twine tied around the neck of a ceramic bunny to the darling burlap bunny napkin rings that I will introduce you to today, it has been just the perfect addition to my Easter decor. Are you ready to learn how to make your own simple burlap bunny napkin rings? Here we go:
Supplies
Pre-made bunny napkin rings OR

Instructions
I found these darling burlap bunny napkin rings at my local craft store a few months before Easter and fell in love with their simple shape. I thought they needed some embellishing to add some color and softness too them and immediately decide to add some ribbon flowers to them. I bought 8 rings at the time and thought that would be plenty for my Easter brunch this year; however, plans change and I am now hosting an Easter dinner for 12. After studying these darling bunny napkin rings briefly, I decided that I could easily make the other four napkin rings that I need myself.
I cut four one inch segments of a cardboard paper towel tube to create my four additional rings. I cut the circle open so that I had a rectangular strip of cardboard to work with. I wrapped each cardboard strip with burlap fabric and secured the seam with glue on what will be the inside of the ring.
The ears are made from another strip of burlap that measures approximately 4 inches long by 1.5 inches wide. Â The corners on each end of the strip are cut into a curve to create the rounded ends of the bunny ears. I then gathered the burlap strip in the middle like an accordion and secured it with several stitches. The ears can then be stitched to the burlap ring to close the ring.
In the image above, the store bought version is on the left and my homemade burlap bunny napkin ring is on the right. I added the ribbon bow and flower to them both. I am pretty impressed with my work if I do say so myself!
I embellished all the bunny napkin rings with simple pieces of ribbon tied all the way around the ears (this helps the ears to stand up better too) forming a small, simple bow in the front. Â I then added small ribbon flowers or sparkly adhesive jewels that I picked up on clearance in the scrap-booking section of my local craft store. A dab of hot glue has helped to keep the simple embellishments in place.
I am totally in love with how these simple burlap bunny napkin rings have turned out and can’t wait to set my official Easter dinner table with them this year. What do you think? Cute, huh?
I hope you are inspired by this simple little project. I have had so much fun with it. What else might you embellish your bunny napkin rings with? I would love to hear your ideas in the comment section. Thanks for “hopping by” to check out this post. Wishing you a very Happy Easter from our family to yours! Â Xoxo, -Cristina
