Fall is such an exciting time of year. The weather turns cooler, the colors become vibrant and leaves start to crunch under foot. Apples and pumpkins are in season and excitement for Halloween starts to build. This year we decided to invite a few close friends over the celebrate all things fall by hosting a fall harvest party for kids. My friends at Oriental Trading made putting this party together easy peasey with their awesome selection of fall activities and decorations. Are you ready to get inspired to celebrate fall? Let’s get this party started:
Pumpkin Banks
Our first activity was to paint these darling ceramic pumpkin banks. I covered the table with newspaper to make clean up a snap and offered a selection of acrylic paints in oranges and greens. Using recycled baby food containers to hold paint is one of my favorite tricks to make painting less messy for little artists. This was such a fun project that even the moms decided to each paint a pumpkin bank. After the orange paint was dry we added jack-o-lantern faces with black paint. Make sure to have each guest write their name on the bottom of the bank to keep them straight. I had party guests leave their banks behind so that I could give them all a quick coat of clear coat spray paint to seal in the paint and make them water resistant. We delivered the finished banks a few days later. What a fun fall keepsake that we will enjoy for years to come!
Flower Turkey Pins
The next project we worked on were these cute flower turkey pins. These craft kits come with everything you need for a quick and easy craft that even the littlest hands can help with. The foam pieces are all pre-cut and have peel and stick adhesive backings. The kits are individually packaged, have step by step instructions and even include extra pieces just in case. We all just LOVED how these turned out!
Fall Themed Bingo
Once the crafts were complete, it was time for some fun fall themed games. Bingo is always a big hit in our house. Use Hershey kisses, individually wrapped Rolos or candy corn for festive (and tasty) Bingo markers. A quick Pinterest search will bring up many free printable bingo games. Here are a few of my favorites for fall:
Fall and Harvest Bingo from The Wise Owl Factory
Halloween Bingo from Crazy Little Projects
Leaf Bingo from EDventures with Kids
Thanksgiving Bingo from Crazy Little Projects
Harvest Bingo from West Valley Moms Blog
Fun Fall Snacks
What fall harvest party would be complete without some yummy snacks? Keep it simple by serving donuts or donut holes and fresh apple cider. Apple slices with caramel dipping sauce can also be a fun fall snack. Serve them up with festive fall plates, napkins and cups like THESE. You could even offer a simple appetizer and some mulled wine for the grown-ups.
