E is for Essential Oils: Lavender Linen Spray

Mmmmm…. the soothing scent of lavender. Lavender is my go-to for a calming and relaxing fragrance. And what better way to enjoy that amazing smell than in a linen spray? Just a spritz or two on my pillow before bed sends me off to dreamland. My kiddos love this too! Try a few sprays in the linen closet to freshen up the towels or on a sweater that hasn’t been worn in a while. Refresh the couch, throw pillows and curtains. The possibilities are endless. There are fancy linen sprays on the market, but they can be pricey and full of added chemicals. It is super easy to make your own linen spray at home and then you know exactly what you are spraying all over the house!
Supplies
Spray bottle – glass or aluminum is best for use with essential oils – I found mine at the dollar store in the hair care aisle or you can order something like these bottles or these bottles with cute chalkboard labels.
15 oz of distilled water
20-25 drops of Lavender essential oil*
1 teaspoon of vodka or rubbing alcohol (optional but does help the mist evaporate more quickly)
Combine your ingredients in your spray bottle and give it a good shake. That’s it. So easy!
A bottle of lavender linen spray makes a great gift too. I printed some simple Avery labels on my home printer and added a ribbon or piece of twine to jazz it up a bit. My girlfriends loved these little “love gifts”.
*There are many choices for essential oils these days. Be sure to look for a pure, therapeutic grade essential oil from a reputable company. Some oils are not truly essential oils and can have unwanted additives. I buy my oils here: http://mydoterra.com/mybalancedlife.
Also try adding 5-10 drops of lemon, grapefruit or rosemary for a different, refreshing variation.
Have fun and sweet dreams! Zzzzzzzzzz!
